Mamale - Milbat Playground

Mamale - the Milbat Playground for Special Children

The Right to Play
Games and toys play an important role in the development and growth of every child. Playing is a rich world that is full of opportunities to develop social skills, sensitivities and cognitive and motor skills. The happy moments while at play are essential for the emotional wellbeing of the child and for collecting priceless childhood experiences.

Nearly all of the toys on the market today are not suitable for the needs and limitations of children with special needs. These children, who cope on a daily basis with complex challenges that are not typical of their age group, need even more moments of enjoyment and learning in play. That is why we established in cooperation with Milbat the Mamale - the Milbat Playground for Special Children.

Mamale - the Milbat Playground for Special Children
Mamale is a techno-educational playground that was developed by Milbat and which is operated on a volunteer basis by Milbat and the Jerusalem Variety Center. The playground is fitted with play apparatus that were developed especially for the use of children with motor, developmental and cognitive impairments.

The playground provides a technological and safe play environment in which the children can learn, play and create in a way that is both enjoyable and therapeutic. The play time encourages the children to develop their abilities, empowers their independence and promotes their integration into society. Moreover, on the playground the children, parents and professionals are exposed to the extant technological possibilities in order to improve and to enrich the quality of life of people with special needs.

The Activity
Activity in Mamale is offered free of charge and is geared for groups from Jerusalem and it environs. The activity is suited for children between the ages of four and teenagers with physical and/or cognitive impairments from special education kindergartens or schools and families that have children with disabilities.
